Prison Break, 12 days to season premiere

August 20th, 2008 by Prison Break Mary

All right, I can’t help it; I want to start the countdown like I am in some NASA control room and anxiously waiting for the spaceship to launch.
Sara is back, this is so confirmed! But the big issue here will be of course the answer to the question “how the hell are they going to give her, her head back”?
Take a look at this promo shot from .http://sarahwaynecallies.net:
http://sarahwaynecallies.net/gallery/displayimage.php?album=106&pos=0
What I see and what I can feel from this capture is some tense and disbelief on Michael’s face. Sara on the other hand is trying to calm him down, to explain things to him. He cannot take in she left him believe she was dead. He feels hurt and deceived for once more from people he loves. Remember, his brother left him believe that Sara was well and hid from him the fact that he had seen her head in a box. When he discovered that Lincoln lied to him he reacted bitterly. And now, it is Deja Vu all over again.
How is she still alive? The company might have kept her alive, threatening her that if she tried to escape or make contact with the brothers that they would kill Michael inside Sona - something not so difficult. They would have told her to keep her mouth shut and let them believe she was dead. They could have placed a fake head inside the box - after all who would expect Lincoln to make a full examination of it? It is a logical explanation. Otherwise they would have killed her in front of LJ - they kept them together after all, and I don’t think they would have any sensitivities about the kid. But instead they didn’t let him to witness the event. He said that he only listened to Sara crying. That is, because the company wanted LJ to also believe they killed her.
She is a strong card and I don’t think they would have let her go that easily.
Oh, one more thing : what is that black ring (?) she is wearing on her finger? Has it anything to do with the story or is it just a plain jewel? (I own one just like that and everyone things it is ugly).

Lost Stars Looking for Treasure

August 11th, 2008 by ESBaker

Do Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly really deserve to have such a pay increase, when even the Academy recognizes both Michael Emerson and Terry O’Quinn as the creme de la creme, by continously nominating these actors for an Emmy? Terry O’Quinn actually won an Emmy last year, and Michael Emerson, who is an an Emmy Winner for another show, is now considered to be a strong candidate to be a winner this year.—ESBaker

All you Kate/Jack ’shippers out there may be comforted to know that even though your favourite Lost couple broke up on-screen, Matthew Fox and Evangeline Lilly are at least pay grade buddies in real life. And who needs love when you have a swimming pool filled with money?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the two main stars of the hit drama entered secret negotiations with ABC Studios last week to give a healthy bump to their paycheques, which each currently sit somewhere around $150,000 US per episode.

Despite producers’ best efforts, however, this was one secret Lost couldn’t keep: word of the illicit meetings got out last Friday, prompting the drama’s other supporting stars to demand their own salary re-negotiations as well. The rest of the cast currently command between $80,000 and $90,000 per episode, well below what Fox and Lilly already earn, especially when you consider that Terry O’Quinn, Michael Emerson, Henry Ian Cusick and Naveen Andrews have each earned at least one Emmy nominations for their performances (with O’Quinn taking the statuette for best supporting actor last year).

But perhaps we’re being a little bit presumptuous. Fox might really, really need some more money. After all, he has his vital chest-waxing regimen to upkeep.

Caption Hunt: Rambo (Rambo IV)

August 11th, 2008 by Thomas Russell

Movie Viewing Date: 8/10/08
Movie Title: Rambo
DVD/HDDVD/BluRay: DVD
Reviewed By: Thomas Russell

Intro: I rented the movie because some people told me that the 4th film was different AND Sylvester did something different with his John Rambo character.  I remember enjoying “First Blood” and I was jaded by the time John Rambo took on the Russians in Afghanistan-like environment.  That’s why there wasn’t another Rambo movie for 20 years.  Sylvester has significantly showed his age - his face was fatter and he never took his shirt off, not even once during the whole movie.  ;)

Previews Captioned: No

Opinion Review: The movie focused more on “realism” than anything for the viewers - the plight of the Karen people in war-torn Burma, a group of Christian workers, and…the look/feel of getting blown up, hacked off limbs, and getting shot (bloodier than usual).  That’s it.  The storyline was weak and the acting was weaker.  All Sylvester did was mope around and wax philosophically about the problems not only in Burma, but the world and the people too.

Caption Hunt: 2008 Beijing Olympic Opening Ceremonies

Show Viewing Date: 8-8-2008
Show Title: The 2008 Olympic Opening Ceremonies
Network:
NBC
Reviewed By: MIke Wilkerson - 2GuysTalking

Intro:

There is something magical about what is the opening of the Summer Olympics every four years for me.  Regardless of what country, I can recall many of the modern televised opening ceremonies for probably the last 20 years.  This year is yet another year that will be burned into the collective consciousness of many people around the world, especially those residing in China - his years host country, as they inte the world to participate not only in games, but this 2GuysTalking Caption Hunt Review of The 2008 Summer Olympics Opening Ceremonies.

Previews/Commercials Captioned: Yes  Not surprisingly, the budget for the Olympics games makes each and every minute of the Olympics a very satisfying experience for those of us that depend on Closed Captioning.  Whether it’s the commentary of the people detailing the artistic portions of the event, or the incredible level of trivia and knowledge bestowed during the March of Nations where we meet the participants of this year’s games, each and every minute of preview and commercial is gloriously captioned.

Opinion Review:

The operative word not only for this special Caption Hunt Review but for the entire span of tha games over the next 2+ weeks is “perspective.”  Regardless of your political stance, your physical demographic in whatever nation you are watching these events from, this “event” we call the Opening Ceremonies is one that will live on forever in the minds of anyone that witnessed it.  The planet’s country with the largest population count, experiencing the world spotlight, provided us with a special treat this evening during it’s first 3+ hours.

As a artist, the artistic portion of this event was yet another step up for the people that create the spectacle of the ga mes in general.  The impressionistic flair and tradition of the creator of this year’s opening ceremony used both the oldest traditions and the most advanced technological feats available and it was just - incredible.  I’ll dialog sadly only several things of a full three hour period that stood out to me here and would love for you to chime in with your thoughts:

– The Marching of Chinese Patriots: While I will be the first to champion the precision of America’s fighting men and women when they march in formal events, one of the single most impressive events this evening that required no artistic direction at all, was the incoming march of the flag of the Chinese nation.  There have often been events where so much precision, sync, and pageantry have been evident, but the soldiers that marched in China’s flag?  It was as if there was ONE person, replicated 6 times, marching in their banner.  The SNAP - the billiant but short pause of each step while carrying both the Chinese flag and Olympic flag - sheer genius.

– The Ability to Go From Nothing to Something: I have high hopes that they’ll provide a DVD set of this years games, mostly because this is easily the first year I would buy it based solely on the opening ceremony events.  The colors, the precision and the ability to take - China’s largest literal contribution to the world - it’s people, and use them to make this extravaganza of pace, light and majesty is just simply unrivaled.  There is a section of the artistic portion of the opening event where they have costumed dancers running in gloring, LED-lighted suits running at full speed on the infield of the stadium - in an outrageously choreographed spectacle of precision, going from a massive field of people, to the outline of a dove, to a never-ending series of PERFECT concentric circles.  Folks, this isn’t some marching band, this is a force of incredibly trained humanity putting on the show of their lives, and it showed in every single minute conveyed.

– You Will Run Your Time:  I can remember an old-school song from Manfred Mann, a musical group with a song used during the 80’s Olympic runs not so strangely called “RUNNER”.  That song would have fit terribly well for this portion of the end of the events.  The final torch light process featured one of China’s most famous gymnasts, suspended on wires, who seemingly levitates to the top rung of the stadium, and then proceeds to run the entire span of the top tier of “scrim” (a plastic screen that encompassed the entire lay of the stadium), as video of moments during the entire process of the torch run across the world was showcased behind him in a firey display that will take a LOT to top in the future.  As he reaches his 360-degree point, the arrives at the powder-line that leads to the giant-torched Olympic couldron, where he ignites the next piece of Olympic history.  The fire ignites and one of the most impressive, memorable and encompassing fireworks displays lights the night sky for a period of 20 straight minutes.  Just magical.

Should NBC choose to make this volume available, I recommend that everyone find a way in their budget to collect it.  It is a testimate to the enginuity of humanity, the brilliance of the human spirit, and a true no-holds-barred showcase of what national pride and humanity can give to the world.

CSI Refit - Can Morpheus Himself Save the Day??

August 7th, 2008 by Mike2GuysTalking

I am a GIANT Laurence Fishburn fan, and would love to see him add some spice to a show that I feel could use a kick in the pants after eons of success.  What are your thoughts?  The twist the add in here initiates complete desire to program the DVR to get the shows that will lead up to this potential transformation and folks:  Those names at the bottom:  ANY of those I think would shake up the regularness of what is a great show.

Fishburne in Talks to Replace Petersen on CSI
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
August 6, 2008

Laurence Fishburne is in talks to succeed William Petersen as the star of CBS’ veteran crime drama “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” says The Hollywood Reporter.

CBS and CBS Paramount’s search has been shrouded in secrecy, but the trade says Fishburne is being heavily courted to play the new character, described as a doctor/scientist outsider to the CSI unit who has the same genetic profile as a serial killer but hasn’t previously acted on any homicidal impulses.

Fishburne had been mentioned as one of the “CSI” producers’ top choices for the role, along with John Malkovich and Kurt Russell.

Battlestar Galactica 2-Hour Special Coming in 2009
Source: SCI FI Channel
August 7, 2008

SCI FI Channel today announced an all-new “Battlestar Galactica” special event, set to air in 2009 following the conclusion of the series and then released on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment shortly thereafter. Directed by series star Edward James Olmos and written by “Battlestar Galactica’s” Jane Espenson, the two-hour event will begin shooting in Vancouver at the end of this summer. The cast includes Michael Trucco, Aaron Douglas and Dean Stockwell, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Starting before the events of the miniseries, our story focuses on familiar characters including Cylon Number One, known as Cavil (Stockwell), Resistance Leader Sam T. Anders (Trucco) and Chief Galen Tyrol (Douglas). In the beginning, the Cylons had a plan, but it didn’t account for one thing: survivors. During the chaotic aftermath of the destruction, two powerful Cylon agents struggle with plots and priorities on the human ships that got away, and among the resistance fighters who were left behind.

The series is from Universal Cable Productions and is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.

The final 10 episodes of “Battlestar Galactica” will begin airing on SCI FI Channel in 2009.
